At the entrance to the Pyramid of the Louvre Museum in Paris, there is a curious cylindrical elevator, inspired by the elevator in the Apple store in New York. In both cases, they are very interesting hydraulic elevators . In the particular case of the Louvre, we are talking about a cylinder, open at the top (as if it were a balcony) that slides down the middle of a spiral staircase.
By pressing the button, the elevator rises to the first level, and once the circular elevator reaches its destination, a walkway appears for passengers to disembark.
It is a curious device that allows disabled people, the elderly and children to easily access the museum grounds. The interesting thing is that the occupants travel as if they were on a balcony so that they can observe the surroundings.

“inspired by the elevator in the Apple Store in New York,” right? The Louvre elevator dates back to 1989, and the first Apple Store dates back to 2001… Let’s not get confused about what is inspired by what.
