Putting security elements in a facility is necessary to guarantee the peace of mind of users.

GMV Eurolift, S.A.Over the past year, we have seen a growing focus on improving safety in all areas. Experience shows us that there are risks that were not taken into account in the past, but the importance of accident prevention is increasingly understood.

The most recent regulations have included this requirement in particular in the field of elevators.

  • The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has introduced the concept that a single fault should not cause a dangerous condition.
  • Amendment A3 to the EN 81-2 standard, which came into force on 01/01/2012, has provided that, just as the electric lift has a double brake, in a new hydraulic installation, the valve has double safety, preventing uncontrolled movement of the cabin.

It is correct to consider the elevator to be the most widely used means of transport in the world, but it is also one of the oldest in circulation.

As a manufacturer, GMV recommends investing in security in old hydraulic power plants and guaranteeing the same level of peace of mind to all users of an elevator, regardless of its age.

First of all, old hydraulic elevators usually do not have the double safety lock .

The DLV valve allows the introduction of double closure, guaranteeing perfect re-levelling even in the event of loss of the flow blocking system or even in the event of a power failure. It is an electrically controlled non-return valve, which must be installed in series between the piston and the valve group.

The DLV valve can be installed in less than 2 hours.

Secondly, it is necessary to periodically check the valve to determine the condition of the internal safety (seals).

Finally, considering the environment, it would be advisable to replace mineral oil with biodegradable fluid .

The ecological fluid is a hydraulic fluid classified in the HEES category according to ISO-UNI 6743-4. Biodegradability index >90% according to CEC L33-A-93 regulations.

Designed to ensure optimum performance against wear and aging of installations. The synthetic base allows for greater stability thanks to a high viscosity index compared to traditional mineral oil.
