GMV collaborates with Manos Unidas for the 5th consecutive year

For the fifth consecutive year, and through the social responsibility exercised by GMV Eurolift, we have collaborated in social investment programs managed by Manos Unidas. These programs are aimed at promoting education as a driver of social change to build societies based on respect and equality.

This year, 2010, GMV has contributed to a project being carried out in the State of Jammu & Kashmir to improve health conditions. The aim of the project is to create several health centres over a period of three years and work on programmes for the prevention of the main diseases in the area, such as tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS and respiratory infections.

To meet the objective of this project, Manos Unidas has set 8 goals in 3 years:

  • Form and strengthen 60 SHGs (Self Help Groups) in 10 villages.
  • Promote income-generating activities among women.
  • To increase the knowledge of primary school children in the selected areas on personal and environmental hygiene through awareness programs over 3 years.
  • Promote adult literacy in villages through women's education.
  • Form 10 health committees in the 10 villages with 15-25 members in each committee.
  • Improve the capacity of medical services in villages through health check-up camps, training and multi-skilled health workers.
  • Increase knowledge related to health issues through training and awareness of SHG leaders.
  • Improve women's health conditions and knowledge.

With our contribution we want to give a strong boost to the development of social action and corporate responsibility of companies, inviting them to join this initiative.
