Can we install a hydraulic lift in a residential community?

This regulation only allows the installation of elevators for private use, i.e. in single-family homes, chalets, etc. This is because the regulation requires that a natural person assume responsibility for the installation.

However, EN 81-41 also provides for the installation of lifts in buildings for public use (e.g. museums), but in this case the regulations also require that their use be restricted either by means of a key or other similar devices.

Comply with regulations

The requirement to comply with EN 81-41 depends on each Autonomous Community; for example, in Catalonia, it is mandatory. Therefore, in some communities, it is possible to install an elevator in a residential community; while in other autonomous communities, the only solution is to install an elevator or consult with the elevator technician if there is a way to restrict elevator use (usually in communities with a small number of residents).
