DLV, the Double Safety System in the Hydraulic Elevator

The elevator is considered the most widely used means of transport in the world, but in many cases it is also one of the oldest in circulation. This means that in some installations, the safety elements required by current regulations are not included.

What does the regulation indicate?

  • The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC introduced the concept that a single fault should not cause a dangerous condition.
  • The new EN 81-20 and EN 81-50 standards, which came into force on 01/09/2017, like the previous EN 81-2 A3, require that, in a new hydraulic installation, the valve has double security, avoiding uncontrolled movement of the cabin.

What does GMV recommend?

As a manufacturer, GMV recommends investing in security in old hydraulic power plants and guaranteeing the same level of peace of mind to all users of an elevator, regardless of its age.

Example:

An example is that old hydraulic elevators normally do not have the double safety lock .

For these cases, the DLV valve allows the introduction of double closure, guaranteeing perfect levelling of the cabin on the floor, even in the event of hydraulic loss in the system. It is an electrically controlled non-return valve, which must be installed in series between the piston and the valve group.

Estimated time to install our DLV valve, less than 2 hours.
