Environmental and sustainability study of electric and hydraulic elevators

graphicsAt the end of May 2018, a study was presented at the Elevcon fair that analysed the environmental and sustainability impact throughout the life cycle of electric and hydraulic lifts installed in both new installations and modernisations.

The study was carried out over 3 years and was commissioned by the ITA (Technological Institute of Aragon) with the participation of 5 countries.

Conclusions of the environmental study of elevators

It is concluded that hydraulic elevators are the most competitive when used for low or medium traffic (residential and low-rise buildings) both in terms of energy consumption and environmental impact.

It should be noted that, of the existing elevator fleet, 80% of the elevators are used to handle medium-traffic trips, so hydraulic elevators, according to the study, would be the best option to be installed.
