The National Geographic Institute reports earthquakes in real time,
The National Geographic Institute (IGN) detected up to 33 earthquakes last week in the area of influence of Almería (this is shown in the visualizer that the IGN has active on its website). Most of them were imperceptible and took place in the Alboran Sea and in the area called Mediterranean-Algeria. Precisely in this area was located the earthquake that has been most noticeable recently in the province, with a magnitude of 4.8. It happened on 11/07/2017 at five in the morning, and gave quite a scare to those who felt it.
The news had a great impact on social media and in the newspaper, where many people explained their experience and/or gave their opinion about the tremor, from which it can be deduced that there were quite a few people who felt the earthquake.
This phenomenon, together with the tremor recorded that same week off the coast of Fuerteventura with a magnitude of 2.6 on the Richter scale, reminds us of the importance of safety in the event of an earthquake.
In the elevator sector, the UNE-EN 81-77:2014 Part 77 standard contains a list of the most significant dangers that can be found in an elevator subject to seismic conditions. Following the 5 most significant points of this standard, the hydraulic elevator stands out as much safer than the electric one in this risk situation. We remind you why in the following link:
