Mechanically synchronized telescopic pistons allow for 2, 4, 6 and 8 piston configurations so that car and freight elevators can be designed with a wide variety of loads, dimensions and cabin travels. They are designed to ensure proper expansion of the different sections so that the cabin always moves smoothly.
Mechanically synchronized telescopic pistons, i.e. using chains and sprockets, have the following advantages:
- The cost of the equipment is reduced.
- Direct action systems can be implemented, thus eliminating pulleys, cables and parachutes on the chassis (EN 81.2), simplifying installation and reducing maintenance costs.
- No special overtravels need to be considered as no resynchronization is required.
- This system requires little space.
- A double safety system is implemented, by adding, in addition to the parachute valve, a device against possible chain breakage.
