ToggleNew regulations in Cáceres for the installation of elevators
On September 20, the Cáceres Government approved a regulation that will allow blocks that do not have the interior space to install an exterior elevator to occupy part of the public road.
This measure has been approved due to the vulnerable situation of people who suffer from some physical disability and who, given the structure of the building or the number of floors built, have problems leaving their homes due to the lack of an elevator.
Buildings without elevators in Spain
It is currently estimated that of the million buildings without an elevator, there are 300,000 that could be fitted with one. The reason is that during the real estate boom of the 1960s, it was common in cities to build buildings without an elevator. Later, during the 1980s, young new owners did not mind going up to their flats by stairs. Nowadays, the population, already older, has difficulty getting out of their houses and is locked in.
