ToggleStandard for lifts EN 81:20. Section 5.4.2.2.1 4b
On 1st September 2017, the new EN 81:20 standard for lifts came into force. Section 5.4.2.2.1 4b) specifies that all freight and car lift installations must provide a mechanical solution to limit downward movements of the cabin between the loading and unloading process that exceed 20mm.
Mechanical Pawl Device
This new regulation is much more restrictive in terms of locking the cabin during loading and unloading operations to ensure safety.
In order to comply with this section of the regulations, GMV has a mechanical Pawl Device that is anchored to the chassis and whose function is to maintain the level of the cabin during the loading and unloading process. When the cabin is on the ground, it rests on stops that are mounted on the guides, blocking any downward movement of the cabin.
For more information we recommend the following article about the pawl device.
