– Do telescopic pistons comply with the new 81.20 regulation?

piston telescopico The answer is yeah. Telescopic pistons comply with EN 81-20 section 5.2.5.8.2 c. This section is identical to that of regulation EN 81-2 5.7.2.3 and refers to hanging pistons that operate under traction.

The regulations state that if there is no room for a person between the piston and the bottom of the pit, the safety distance is reduced from 0.50 m to 0.10 m. The safety distance of 0.50 m is considered for the body of a person, but in the case of this type of piston, a person cannot be under the piston, so the safety distance becomes 0.10 m. The telescopic piston complies with this distance.
