Machine room-less hydraulic installations (MRL)

Hydraulic lifts without machine room

What is an MRL hydraulic installation?

MRL-T power plant installed in the pit

Hydraulic elevators are pointing to a new trend, and increasingly, their components are designed specifically for MRL type installations (without machine room or cabinet ), that is, locating the machinery in the elevator shaft itself.

Advantages of a hydraulic elevator without a machine room

This new trend brings many advantages, among which we highlight the most relevant ones:

  • Machine Roomless Installation (MRL)

By installing the machinery (central) in the pit itself, no additional space is taken up, which can be used for other purposes.

  • Reduces installation costs: it is not necessary to purchase a cabinet or use m2 to locate the machinery.
  • Lower noise level thanks to the location of the plant.
  • Safety for the operator and/or technician

– Easy access for maintenance in the pit.
– The usual adjustments are made from outside the shaft using a programming console.

– The rescue maneuver is carried out from outside the hole.

In an MRL installation, where are the rescue maneuver elements located?

The control unit is located in the pit, in the empty space between the guides and the wall. To facilitate the rescue operation, the safety measures of the control unit are relocated. A container (metal box) is placed on the door of the landing of the lowest stop (for example a basement) where the hand pump , the emergency button , and the connection of the electronic valve group control programmer (for the operator) are located. In this way, entering the elevator shaft to carry out any rescue or maintenance operation is avoided at all times.

Features of the MRL hydraulic installation:

Residential building: example of MRL hydraulic installation

  • No minimum pit depth required
  • Dimensions of the hydraulic power station (MRL-T) located in the pit (W x D x H): 30 x 178 x 30cm
  • Route: 6 stops; Load capacity: up to 8 people; Max. speed 1m/s; and electronically regulated flow rate (ensuring a good level of comfort)
  • Possibility of using ecological fluid
