What is a control panel?

The control panel is the element that controls all the actions performed by the elevator: door opening, movements, operating states, speeds, etc. You could say that it is the brain of the installation.

Type of control panel

There are many manufacturers of control panels and many models of these on the market. Each one has certain functions according to the client's requirements depending on where to install a hydraulic elevator .

Classification of elevator control panels

At a general level and without going into details, we can classify types of maneuver taking into account two aspects:

Maneuver according to the number of elevators controlled by the control panel:

• • Simplex : In simplex maneuvers, the control panel controls only one elevator.
  • Duplex : In duplex control, the control panel controls two elevators.
  • Triplex : In triplex control, the control panel controls three elevators.

Collective descent maneuver

The car button panel of this type of control has as many buttons as there are floors, and one button on each landing. As in the universal control, the car user has priority over the users who are on the landing. This type of control has a memory to record calls. Calls are answered in the following way:

• • Uphill:
    The elevator responds to requests made from the cabin push-button panel in order of proximity. When it finishes receiving requests from users inside the cabin, it responds to requests from the landing.
  • Downhill:
    The lift responds to calls made from the car push-button panel in order of proximity, and also stops at landings where a call has been made. The purpose of this manoeuvre is to be installed in residential buildings, where the highest percentage of calls made from landings are to go down to the ground floor. The performance of this type of manoeuvre is much higher than that of universal manoeuvres.

Collective uphill and downhill maneuver

There are as many buttons on the cabin push-button panel as there are floors, and on each landing there is a push-button panel with two buttons, one for up and one for down. The user must select the direction they wish to take. The lift responds to requests from inside the cabin, stopping at all requests from cabin users. It also responds to calls from landings for movements in the same direction, i.e. if the lift is going up, it stops at all landings where the up option on the landing push-button panel has been pressed.
